Wushu by Lily Huang
Medium: Rotoscoping
Award: Honorable Mention over the entire categories in Flux Design Contest 2018
Motion graphics grab our hearts powerfully when the moving image and sound are integrated with careful timing. Lily Huang has achieved this in her exquisite illustration that reminds us of ink wash paintings on rice paper (水墨畫), and a figure doing Wushu (武术), the Chinese Martial art, as well as her choice of music, which all reflects her rich cultural heritage.
Casimir by Kyle Stateler
Medium: Film
Kyle Stateler not only wrote and directed the film, but he also took on multiple roles to bring his vision to life. He meticulously crafted the set from scratch, including the iconic brick wall. His passion for film noir shines through in this captivating and suspenseful narrative.

Before the pandemic, when Instacart was still relatively unknown to the public, Dowson Hoppe created this animation to highlight its convenience. Watch how he skillfully organized and structured the information into bite-sized pieces, providing step-by-step guidance to avoid information overload. Naturally, after the pandemic hit, Instacart became one of the primary methods for people to complete their grocery shopping.
The Life of Ray Bradbury by Simran Gill
Medium: Motion Design
This animation has approximately a whopping 17K views on YouTube as of 2025. It’s definitely the highest record of views any of my students have ever earned with their work! No, it did not produce any money. 🙂

Additionally, the app matches users with the most suitable local nail artist based on their skills, proximity, and design preferences.

TU Commuter App by Nathan Moynihan
Medium: UI/UX Design
To ensure they get to their classes on time, commuting college students need to gather information from various sources, such as local traffic updates, campus shuttle routes, and nearby parking lots. This information is often fragmented across multiple media like news, radio, websites, and university offices. Drawing from his own experience as a commuter, Nathan Moynihan designed an all-in-one app that integrates Google Maps routing, parking availability, campus parking maps, and class schedules to streamline this process.

GreenHero by Nyah Daniel
Medium: UI/UX Design
Despite the urgent state of climate change in the 21st century, many young people and adults remain disengaged. To spark their interest in going green, Nyah Daniel designed an app that leverages the reward system of video games. This app aims to raise awareness about climate change and offers practical ways for users to make a positive impact on their environment.

Budget App by Coby Correll, Warren Burke, Logan Byer and Aiyana Alvarado
Medium: UI/UX Design
Managing finances is a constant challenge for college students. Despite working part-time jobs that often pay poorly, their expenses for essentials like gas, groceries, and clothing are comparable to those of full-time workers with higher salaries. Recognizing this struggle from their own experiences, Coby Correll, Warren Burke, Logan Byer, and Aiyana Alvarado designed an app to address this widespread issue among college students.

Pet Library by Matt Dornan, Madalynne Reynolds and Bailey Stechman
Medium: UI/UX Design
In today’s society, pets are cherished as family members and close friends. Emotional support animals are permitted to accompany their owners in public places such as schools, clinics, hospitals, and hotels. Just as parents of young children seek supportive communities through daycare and nurseries, pet owners need trustworthy caretakers to ensure their pets are well cared for while they are away. Recognizing this need, Matt Dornan, Madalynne Reynolds, and Bailey Stechman, who are pet owners themselves, designed an innovative app that connects local pet owners and allows them to share pet information, helping each other meet their pets’ needs. It takes a village to raise a child, and the same goes for pets!
