Impostor Syndrome & Authenticity Workshop

Wednesday, May 14, 6-8pm  |  16 W. North Ave. Gallery in Station North Arts District

A fun and creative exploration that includes sharing, writing and art-making for Asian Pacific Islander Middle Eastern Desi American (APIMEDA) folks and friends. Facilitated by Dr. Sel Hwahng (Towson University Assistant Professor of Women, Gender, Health, and Sexuality) and Rieko Chacey (Multimedia artist and Towson University faculty of Graphic Design & Interactive Media, VFX and Animation).

In this workshop, I am implementing various art therapy techniques such as journaling and scrapbooking to teach the audacity to be authentic. The aim of these art-making activities is for each participant to discover who they really are and be the person they were meant to be rather than adopting an American persona to assimilate to the society due to the insecurity of being a minority and a diaspora in the U.S. This interactive art-making will not only connect, bond and strengthen each participant, but it also gives me opportunities to guide each participant’s journey to make their own art.
